In a landmark initiative, the Sudan Meteorological Authority (SMA) is proud to announce its collaboration with the Finnish Meteorological Institute to enhance our nation's weather and climate services. This partnership, generously supported by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, focuses on the development of SMA's organizational and human resource capabilities. Through this collaboration, we aim to provide superior weather and climate services across various sectors, empowering society with accurate and timely information.

Our project encompasses the modernization of Sudan's observation network, providing our team with state-of-the-art training on operating and servicing modern weather instruments. This initiative not only improves our data collection and analysis capabilities but also supports our mission to offer enhanced products and services to the community.

Furthermore, this collaboration extends to South Sudan, assisting in the establishment of an independent weather service, and places a significant emphasis on climate change adaptation. By improving our research capacity and focusing on risk management, we aim to mitigate the impacts of extreme climate events and reduce vulnerability to weather and climate-related risks.

The Sudan Meteorological Authority is committed to advancing our country's resilience to climate change and enhancing our weather services for the benefit of all Sudanese citizens.
